Celebrate the new year by exploring these ancient practices that enhance mind-body functioning! In each class of this 4-part series, we'll start with a warm-up, based on both Western and Eastern medical wisdom, that gently but thoroughly targets all body joints, all planes of movement, and even some particular body organs. Then we'll practice silk reeling and other movements that are foundational for tai chi. Finally, we'll relax with calming qigong movements, some of which date back several thousand years! This series will complement any fitness regimen you currently have. And if fitness has recently lost priority in your life, these classes will be a wonderful way to rejuvenate your vitality and enjoyment of movement in the new year! At the end of this series, you will know whether or not you want to commit to learning a tai chi form (with those classes beginning Feb. 28th). Regardless of that decision, you'll have learned the basics of movements designed to promote balance, flexibility, mobility, and overall health for the rest of your life.

For thousands of years, Eastern movement practices have enhanced people’s flexibility, balance, mobility, and overall mind-body wellness well into old age. Savor and learn these movement patterns to help you achieve a lifetime of optimal health! Each class includes both tai chi (Yang-24 form) and qigong instruction, as well as a gentle warm-up sequence targeting all body joints and planes of movement. People with all levels of experience (including none) are welcome at any class.
